Communicate your needs while safely distancing.
Friends are not prioritizing social/physical distancing and want you to hang out, but you know it is not safe and don't feel comfortable.
TIP – Express how important it is to take things seriously. Suggest alternatives, such as setting a daily or weekly call. Be assertive in your response but not aggressive.
IDK if it's a good idea. I want to help keep everyone safe. I want to stay home and make plans for a watch party instead!
TIP – If you need time alone to study and do your personal things, speak up if your friends are interrupting you. Be clear about your time needs. Share your calendar.
I need to focus on school. Please give me some time alone. I will call you when I am done.
Think about the other persons and how they might be thinking or feeling. Always make decisions that are right for you.
It is also important to pay attention to how much and how often you are drinking. Track the number of drinks you consume and follow the low risk drinking guidelines - click here.
Do not let anyone influence how much alcohol you consume. It is your body. Your choice.
Don’t let your drinking do your thinking®
